About me

Hi there, I'm Alex, a chronic illness warrior, content creator, and avid traveler. I'm excited to share my story with you—a tale of resilience, empowerment, and the pursuit of adventure despite chronic pain.

Living with conditions like craniomandibular dysfunction (CMD) / temporomandibular disorder (TMJ) (two names same illness), Eagle syndrome, Endometriosis, and ADHD has been quite the adventure. For nearly two decades, I grappled with dismissals and doubt, even finding myself in mental health clinics. However, a few years back, despite facing denial from Insurance providers and skepticism from others (even from the people closest to me), I hit rock bottom, facing a pivotal choice: surrender to the relentless grip of pain or summon the strength to fight for my very existence.

I channeled my last reserves of strength into studying medical law—a decision that reshaped my world. Balancing full-time work, part-time studies, mood swings, and unbearable pain was no easy feat, but it fueled my determination.
Maybe it was the constant stress that kept me going for so long!

Through sheer persistence and a deep dive into legal intricacies and insurance complexities, I eventually secured the treatment I had long yearned for. What was once a nightmare transformed into my life's mission: supporting others through their own health challenges using my hard-earned knowledge and empathy.

My passion for travel intertwines with my journey, inspiring me to share insights on resilience and navigating the world with chronic pain. As an advocate and legal guide for individuals facing chronic illness and disability, I find solace in healing my own wounds while helping others avoid unnecessary trauma.

Together, let's stand up against the stigma surrounding invisible illnesses and pave the way for a more compassionate and inclusive future. Join me on this journey of empowerment, authenticity, and growth as we collaborate and create meaningful change together.

Traveling

When you're dealing with chronic illness, time becomes a peculiar companion. It no longer flows in the same way as it once did. It's no longer measured solely by the ticking of the clock or the pages of a calendar turning. Instead, it becomes intertwined with moments of pain, fatigue, and resilience.

Chronic pain has taught me to appreciate the simple pleasures, the connections with others, and the beauty of the present moment. It has reshaped my priorities and shown me that life is not just about ticking off boxes on a to-do list, but about embracing the unpredictable, the imperfect, and the extraordinary moments that come our way.

It's about savoring the small victories, the fleeting moments of respite that provide a glimmer of light and happiness amidst the darkness of pain and loneliness and hopelessness.

Traveling has become my sanctuary—a way to escape the confines of my pain and immerse myself in the beauty of the world. It's not always easy, and it takes careful planning, adjustments, and accommodations to make it possible. But when I'm on the road, exploring new places, meeting diverse people, and experiencing different cultures, I feel alive. I feel like I'm defying the limitations that chronic pain tries to impose upon me.

But let me be real with you. It's not always glamorous, roses and rainbows and it's far from picture-perfect. Behind the scenes, there are tons of moments of exhaustion, discomfort, crying and setbacks. There are times when I have to cancel plans, modify itineraries, being completely overwhelmed and feeling lost or simply take a step back to care for myself. It's a constant dance between pushing my boundaries and listening to my body's limitations.

I'm sharing with you my journey and what I'm learning on the way.
Let's go.

Kisses and hugs
